What to confirm before paying

Identify the billing provider

Name the API endpoint your application uses and who bills for it. Do not assume a direct Anthropic balance covers a workload billed by AWS or Google Cloud, or that a Claude subscription includes API spend.

Permission comes before price

Anthropic’s Credit Terms state that credits may not be transferred or sold to any other person or entity, and may only be used by the holder of the account they are attached to. That covers promotional credits as well as paid ones. Ask for the credit’s source, the applicable agreement and any explicit Anthropic approval. Account access, a seller’s assurance and a private contract are not substitutes for provider permission.

Specify the actual workload

Provide model names, expected daily volume, peak throughput and any batch-processing needs. Have the seller confirm the relevant account limits and model access before comparing quotes.

Define access and support

Confirm who controls the workspace, how access would be provisioned, who can revoke it and who handles a service interruption. Keep credentials and customer data out of the initial inquiry.

Specify whether you need a consumer subscription or API usage. This inquiry is for API requirements; a subscription label alone does not establish API billing capacity.

Can I buy someone else’s Anthropic credit balance?

Anthropic’s published Credit Terms prohibit transferring or selling credits and limit their use to the account holder they belong to. We cannot override those terms. Submit requirements only for review of whether there is an expressly permitted arrangement; an introduction is not confirmation of permission.

What should I include in an Anthropic buyer brief?
